Encountering the First-Century World of Jesus of Nazareth

Are you or your church interested in the idea of taking a Guided Tour around the cultural, geographical, historical, and religious aspects of the World of Jesus?

Along the way, you will find out how an appreciation of the first-century brings the Gospels to life – why did Jesus say what he said, where he said it, and how he said it?

There has been an upsurge in interest in the ‘Jewish Jesus’ or the ‘Historical Jesus’. It is vital to understand the context and culture of the Gospels to properly interpret the first-century situation and its relevance to our twenty-first-century setting.

Biblical Interpretation

Is your church or small group interested to learn about how to differentiate between different kinds of biblical literature; to consider key issues in interpreting biblical texts, including their relationship to their historical context; and to enable people to reflect on the meaning of the biblical story for our contemporary context.

By looking at the whole story of God, through a variety of selected texts, you will have the opportunity to see how the Bible is one unit and how best to handle the Law, the Psalms, the Wisdom Literature, the Gospels, the Epistles, and Apocalyptic Literature.

Are you interested in discovering how other cultures view the world, how high and low context communication can make all the difference, or how an understanding of honour and shame changes our approaches to evangelism and discipleship.
